A pillow might seem like a small thing, but getting it right makes a huge difference. Most pillows in UK homes are way older than they should be—usually over three years old. You're supposed to swap them out every year or two, but people hardly ever think about it. Don't wait until you have a terrible night's sleep to realize your pillow needs changing.
Our pillows cost between £7.99 and £35.99. We have lots of different types including natural feather, memory foam, bamboo, anti-allergy, and special shapes for support. Whether you have a stiff neck, a feather allergy, or a pillow that's gotten all flat and uncomfortable, you'll find something that actually works for you instead of just picking a pillow that's supposed to work for everyone.
Why the Right Pillow Matters
Your pillow has one main job: keeping your head and neck lined up straight while you're sleeping, kind of like how they'd be if you were standing up with really good posture. If you mess this up every single night, you'll start getting stiff in the morning, dealing with headaches, or having a neck that always feels a little off. But if you get it right, you won't even think about your pillow anymore, and that's actually what you want to happen.
Shop Pillows by Sleep Position
Most pillow advice starts here for a reason: how you sleep decides what shape and firmness actually works.
Side sleepers need the most support, since there's a real gap between the shoulder and the head to fill. A firmer, higher pillow keeps the spine level. Our Memory Foam Pillows and Bamboo Pillows range includes contour and orthopaedic shapes built with exactly this in mind.
Back sleepers generally do best with medium support, enough loft to fill the curve of the neck without tipping the chin forward. Our Goose Feather Pillows and Duck Feather Pillows shape and settle under the head in a way firmer foam pillows don't.
Front and stomach sleepers need the opposite of what you'd expect: soft and low, sometimes close to flat. A thick pillow here just tips the neck back. Softer feather pillows or our Anti-Allergy Pillows work well, since they pack down more than foam does.
Combination sleepers are most of us, if we're honest. They do best with something adaptable. A medium feather pillow or a shredded memory foam fill can move and reshape through the night rather than fighting you.
Shop Pillows by Filling
Goose & Duck Feather Pillows
Natural filling for anyone who wants that soft, slightly springy feel that foam doesn't replicate. Our Goose Feather Pillows are the plusher of the two, an 85% feather and 15% down blend inside a cotton cambric cover. Duck Feather Pillows use the same construction at a slightly lower price. They come as a pack of two or four. Handy if you're kitting out more than one bed at once. Both conform to the Furniture and Furnishings Fire Safety Regulations 1988.
Memory Foam Pillows
For proper neck and shoulder support, memory foam is hard to beat. Our Memory Foam Pillows range runs from a standard moulded pillow through to contour shapes, a cooling gel version, and a shredded fill that adjusts more like a feather pillow while still giving foam's support. Side sleepers and anyone with neck pain tend to get on best with this range.
Bamboo Pillows
Bamboo here describes the cover, not the filling. Most of our Bamboo Pillows pair a memory foam core with a soft, breathable bamboo-derived fabric that helps regulate temperature overnight. One thing worth knowing before you buy: our entry-level Bamboo Memory Foam Pillow actually uses a knitted polyester cover. It's the V-shape, contour and Octaluxe versions that carry genuine bamboo fabric. Check the listing if the cover material matters to you.
Anti-Allergy Pillows
If dust mites or allergies keep you up, our Anti-Allergy Pillows use a hypoallergenic hollowfibre fill with no feather or down at all. They're fully machine washable, which matters more than people realise. Regular washing does more to manage dust mites than the filling type alone.
Pregnancy & Maternity Pillows
Our Maternity Pillows are built for targeted support rather than one large full-body pillow: a V-shape for the back and bump, and a bolster for between the knees. Want full-length body support specifically? Check the exact shape on the product page before you order.
Wedge & Orthopaedic Pillows
Reading in bed. Acid reflux. Simply wanting to sit up comfortably. Our Wedge Pillows range covers all three, including an orthopaedic foam wedge with over 80 customer reviews behind it, plus a dedicated leg wedge for easing lower back pressure.
Pillow Sizes Explained
A lot of our pillows come in the regular UK housewife size, which is about 48cm by 74cm. This size works perfectly with a normal pillowcase without any weird fitting problems. Some of our pillows have special shapes, and those sizes are different depending on the design. Our V-shape pillows are around 75cm long. If you want memory foam contour pillows, we have them in two sizes: small ones that are 30x50cm and large ones that are 40x60cm. The Bamboo V-shape pillow measures 76 x 47 x 27cm. Before you buy, make sure you look at the exact measurements on the product page because pillows with special shapes don't always fit regular pillowcases.
How to Choose the Right Pillow
A short checklist, in the order we'd actually think about it:
- Sleep position first. It decides firmness and loft more than anything else.
- Filling second. Natural for softness and shape, foam for support and structure, hollowfibre for easy care and allergies.
- Any specific issue. Neck pain, acid reflux, pregnancy or allergies all point toward a specialist shape rather than a standard pillow.
- Care requirements. Check the label, not every filling handles a hot wash the same way.
- Replace on a cycle, not when it visibly sags. One to two years is the general rule, even if it still looks fine from the outside.
Caring for Your Pillows
A lot of our pillows can be washed in the washing machine, but you should always look at the tag on your own pillow first because feather, foam, and hollowfibre pillows all wash differently. Feather pillows need a big washing machine and need to dry all the way through really well. Memory foam usually shouldn't go in the washing machine at all—instead, you should clean the spots by hand and wash just the cover in the machine. Hollowfibre and anti-allergy pillows are usually easier to take care of, and a normal wash with low heat will keep them clean and fresh.
No matter what kind of filling your pillow has, using a pillow protector can make it last a lot longer. You put it between the pillow and the pillowcase, and it catches sweat and oils that a pillowcase by itself can't stop.
